Bites, Brews & Good Vibes: Your Budget Friendly Guide to Denver, Boulder & Beyond

Welcome to our go‑to’s for incredible eats and brews spanning Denver, Boulder, and some charming towns in between.

Although we mostly whip up our own meals at home, when we do venture out we make every dollar count—and these spots never disappoint. Below is our curated list of favorites, organized by location (with food trucks leading the way since they’re always on the move).

Sushi Food Truck Temaki

Food Trucks

Temaki Tornado
Yes, you read that right—a sushi food truck! Temaki Tornado is so good I’ve even booked them for events (everyone loved them). They have handrolls and rice bowls - you can’t go wrong with anything you order.

Grey Duck Eats
If you thought sushi was odd for a food truck - lets try Nordic-inspired cuisine! We’ve enjoyed their offerings at both 4 Noses and Liquid Mechanics. Its such a unique and delicious experience that sometimes I will have second dinner here - I just can’t pass it up when I see it!

Rev Mex Food Truck
Everything here tastes super fresh. We tried their platter option on our first visit (and ended up with leftovers!). The tacos stole the show, but every dish is worth a taste.

Nederland

Knotted Root
This local gem pours amazing beer—especially if you’re an IPA fan. On Saturdays, they often team up with Temaki Tornado for a unique experience that mixes great brews, awesome tunes, and a super chill vibe. It’s one of our top Colorado hangouts. They are super dog friendly, so bring in your pup after a morning hike.

Lafayette

Liquid Mechanics
Our absolute favorite. Their classic beers hit the spot, and their rotating taps offer fun surprises (try a flight if you can!). With food trucks and a lovely outdoor space, it’s always a good time here.

Stem Ciders - Acreage
At the Lafayette location, the outdoor seating paired with killer views of the Flatirons is unbeatable. Even if you weren’t a cider fan before, try their dry options— Chile Guava is my favorite . The menu is equally exciting (shrimp bowl, truffle fries, burgers, you name it), and the space is both dog‑ and kid‑friendly. (Fun fact: you can even see part of the cider production when you hit the restroom!)

Morning Glory Café
A bustling, friendly spot that exudes relaxed charm. Their huevos rancheros, latke and eggs, breakfast quesadilla, and even a surprising salmon filet burger (don’t forget the fries) are all must‑tries. They also have local art for sale on their walls.

Jeannot’s Patisserie & Bistro
If you’re into croissants (and who isn’t?), this place will win your heart.

Kismet Café
A recent discovery that already has us planning our next visit. We’ve sampled the baklava and tea, and we can’t wait to dive into the rest of their extensive menu.

William Oliver’s
We’ve only tried the Lafayette location so far, but everything from the drinks to the food is spot on. (Heads up: this place is a pork lover’s paradise!)

  • Our Favorite Bites

    • Pint o’ Bacon

    • Chicago Dog

    • JGBLT

    • “Sorry, I’m Not Sorry” Salad

    • Gettin’ Piggy With It

    • Any of the Baked Potatoes

    • Pork Belly Bites

    • (bonus: they even have a rooftop in the warmer months)

Post Chicken + Beer
With several locations to choose from, our favorite is the Lafayette spot. Enjoy a sprawling outdoor area, gluten free fried chicken, and in‑house brewed beer. The happy hour wings are pure bliss!

Westbound and Down
We recently discovered this Lafayette gem. Although the indoor space is a bit snug, the cheesesticks, pizza, pasta, and beer are all fantastic. We’re kicking ourselves for not trying it sooner!

Erie

Lucille’s
While all their locations shine, the new Erie spot steals our hearts—especially in the summer when the outdoor space is perfect. Our top picks include beignets, eggs Pontchartrain, blackened salmon, and New Orleans‑style eggs. The sides are customizable too: mix your potatoes and grits for a delightful combo, and don’t skip the po’ boys or daily specials.

24 Carrot Bistro
An upscale farm‑to‑table brunch destination that might stretch the budget a bit, but it’s well worth it. The special menu is a highlight and makes for a memorable dining experience.

Broomfield

4 Noses Brewing Company
A perfect blend of good beer, tasty food truck fare, and a spacious outdoor area. Plus, if you’re into climbing, you’re in luck—there’s a gym nearby. (Heads up: parking can be a bit tight.)

Denver

Sonny’s Mediterranean
You’ve never tasted anything quite like this. Big portions mean leftovers are almost guaranteed, and the falafels, chicken, and lamb are all on point. And don’t even get us started on the mezze—it’s a must‑try. It’s also a great spot to eat before an event at Ball Arena.

Boulder

Flower Child
One of the rare places where you can enjoy a healthy, well‑rounded meal that leaves you feeling great all day.

Postino’s
In Boulder, keep an eye out for their board of bruschetta paired with a bottle of wine for just $25 on Mondays and Tuesdays after 8 PM—a delightful deal!

Jill’s Restaurant and Bistro @ The St. Julien Hotel
A happy hour haven where the handmade tots are to die for. We could easily make this our daily go‑to, so be sure to save some tots for your taste test!

Mountain Sun Pub + Brewery
Whether you visit the Boulder or their other location, expect delicious burgers and even better fries—comfort food at its finest.

Sanitas Brewery
Huge indoor and outdoor space. Great beers, and delicious quesadillas from Mc.Devitt Taco Supply

No matter where you’re headed—from food trucks to cozy cafés or lively brewpubs—there’s a little taste of something amazing waiting for you in the Boulder/Denver corridor. Enjoy exploring, and happy eating!
